Ladybird

Written by Vassily Sigarev
Translated by Sasha Dugdale
Directed by Frankie McCafferty

Rehearsed reading (70 mins)

This is a pitch-black comedy with characters from a Russian underclass who have hit rock bottom and are ripe for exploitation. A sorry group so desperate for any kind of way out that they will sell their souls or their friend’s mother’s grave-makers.
Although it is grim, there is a ray of light. Even at their lowest, people will always seek a symbol of hope.
