The Girl On The Sofa

Written by Jon Fosse

Translated by David Harrower

Directed by Sarah Lyle

Rehearsed reading (60 mins)

A girl on the verge of adulthood is sitting on a sofa. She is unhappy: she resents her mother and older sister and longs for her absent father, a sailor.

A woman approaching middle age is painting a portrait.

This intriguing and haunting work from one of Norway’s leading playwrights juxtaposes two stories and explores the complex interweaving of the past with the present.
